An accommodation and insulation work package should identify the commercial-vessel spaces involved, the condition already recorded and the work being requested. Separate interior items from hot-service insulation and adjacent systems so that a broad refit heading does not hide the actual boundaries.
Gisan Shipyard’s outfitting, insulation and accommodation scope includes carpentry and woodwork, wet-area tiling and panel work, bathroom and washbasin refit, watertight door and closure work, hot-service insulation and galvanized sheet cladding. Use those published service areas as context for an itemized enquiry, with the proposed intervention and responsibilities still to be discussed.
Identify the spaces and their existing function
Use the vessel’s own compartment names and drawing references. Record the deck and any available location identifier so that the space can be found in the work list, photographs and plans. Describe the current use and whether it is intended to remain the same.
- Vessel identity and the accommodation or service spaces included in the request.
- Marked space plans or available arrangement drawings, with their revisions.
- Dated overview and condition photographs linked to each location.
- Known dimensions or quantities, with units and a note identifying estimates.
- Areas awaiting inspection or whose work boundaries remain uncertain.
Keep observed damage, an owner preference and an agreed repair requirement distinct. If the proposal changes the vessel’s use or arrangement, identify that question separately in the conversion and retrofit context. An accommodation work list should not settle conversion-engineering questions.
Break accommodation work into identifiable items
For carpentry, woodwork and panel items, identify the component or area, its recorded condition and the requested repair, renewal or refit boundary. Distinguish work on an existing item from a request for a different arrangement. Include known quantities and existing material information without assuming a replacement specification.
For wet-area tiling or bathroom and washbasin work, mark the affected space and the visible condition. State which finishes or fixtures are included in the request. Identify any connected piping, drainage, flooring or adjacent work that needs a separate scope discussion rather than assuming it is included in the interior item.
Where leakage or damage has been recorded, attach the available findings and describe what remains unresolved. A photograph of a damaged finish does not by itself establish the cause or the full repair boundary. Keep requested inspection separate from confirmed renewal items.
List doors and closures separately
Identify each door or closure by location and available tag or drawing reference. Share condition photographs and relevant existing details, and state the intervention being requested. Keep the item separate from surrounding panel, frame or access work so those interfaces can be discussed.
Reference any owner-provided functional, inspection or documentation requirement. Ask who will determine the detailed repair scope and confirm the requirement applicable to that item. A published watertight-door service does not define one test method or acceptance criterion for every closure.
Keep hot-service insulation and cladding in a distinct scope
Identify the equipment or line involved and the section for which insulation or cladding work is being requested. Attach available drawings, photographs and existing insulation or covering details. Keep the underlying equipment item separate from the work on its insulation and external cladding.
For galvanized sheet cladding, describe the known existing arrangement and the proposed work boundary. Distinguish removal and reinstatement from replacement, and flag dimensions or material details that need confirmation. Do not infer insulation material or condition solely from the outer covering.
Hot-service insulation and accommodation finishes answer different scope questions. A general hot-service insulation listing is not evidence of a fire-rated bulkhead assembly. This enquiry guide specifies no product, insulation thickness, fire or acoustic rating, or technical acceptance value.
Tie material requirements to the available documents
List material information from drawings, owner records or legible product identification, stating its source. Keep existing material details separate from the owner’s requested replacement. Identify who is expected to select, procure and confirm the proposed material before treating it as an agreed item.
If the owner already has a material, drawing, inspection or approval requirement, attach the relevant document and identify its status. Ask who will review applicability and provide the requested records. An enquiry should communicate that requirement without assuming a certified material system or assigning approval responsibility to the yard.
Describe access, removal and adjacent work
Show the present access using available plans or photographs. Identify panels, furniture, insulation, piping or other items that may affect the requested work. Record known restrictions on access to occupied or operational spaces and any other work planned in the same location.
Ask which removal, handling, storage, protection and reinstatement activities are included. Identify who will establish the safe working and equipment-isolation arrangements where relevant. Keep these responsibilities visible instead of absorbing them into a single accommodation-refit item.
Prepare the item list and requested completion records
For each space or equipment item, connect the location, recorded condition, proposed intervention, available material information and access interfaces. Separate confirmed requests, options and items awaiting inspection. Identify the owner-supplied materials being proposed and the supply questions still open.
State the completion information the owner wants, such as an agreed work-item record, material information or photographs, and ask who would provide it. Reference any existing inspection or handover requirement separately. A requested record does not establish a standard certification or acceptance process for every job.
When these items form part of a wider repair period, use the ship repair RFQ preparation guide for the vessel-level brief and attachment organization. Keep the accommodation and insulation schedule as its own referenced part of that package.
Share the space plans, condition photographs, available material requirements and itemized work list through Gisan Shipyard's contact page. Include the preferred work period and the removal, reinstatement and documentation questions that remain open.
