Prepare a marine piping or valve enquiry from the circuit down to the individual item. Keep known dimensions and component markings in the work list, then identify access, testing and documentation questions separately. A system name on its own does not define the repair boundary.

Gisan Shipyard’s piping systems scope includes hydraulic, seawater cooling, ballast and freshwater circuits, together with sounding and air-vent pipes. Valve maintenance, renewal, gasket replacement and valve testing also appear in the published service list.

Locate the circuit in the available records

State the system name, onboard location and available line or valve reference. Attach the line diagram or drawing with its number and revision. A marked overview helps locate the item shown in a close-up photograph.

Describe leakage, a maintenance need or another finding from the records available. Distinguish observation from inspection conclusions. Flag a drawing that is known not to show the current arrangement; a document number alone does not establish the present onboard condition.

Read the valve identity before specifying the work

Record any valve tag or line number, type, make/model and legible body markings. Reference the requested maintenance, renewal or gasket replacement against that item. Pipe diameter alone does not provide the complete valve identity.

Nominal size and nominal pressure are separate particulars: for example, KSB’s product technical data lists them under DN and PN fields. Preserve the markings and their definitions. Do not transfer that product’s values to the vessel’s valve or use them as a test-pressure instruction.

Define the pipe section to be discussed

Divide a broad “pipe renewal” request into identifiable sections to be renewed or examined. Include the information already available:

  • Start and end references for the section and known connection points
  • Material, diameter and wall thickness, with the information source and units
  • Known length or piece count, clearly identifying any estimate
  • Related drawings or sketches and photographs of the existing section
  • Available information about connections, supports and adjacent items

Keep the existing dimensions separate from those requested for renewal. Do not infer material or wall thickness from appearance alone. Mark missing dimensions or unresolved section boundaries for confirmation.

Separate testing requests from the dimensional schedule

Attach any existing test requirement, technical reference and requested record. Identify the relevant work item and known responsibilities for examination or documentation. Method, pressure and acceptance conditions need separate clarification; do not insert a default test pressure.

A published valve-testing service does not establish one test arrangement or approval authority for every circuit. Keep the requested intervention, testing expectation and documentation question distinct.

Identify removal and adjacent-work interfaces

Use photographs or a sketch to show existing access and known removal needs. Note insulation, flooring or nearby equipment that may affect access. State whether removal, transfer and reinstatement are being requested rather than assuming those activities are included.

Where the item connects to a pump or hydraulic equipment, distinguish pipe/valve work from the equipment item. Refer to the relevant machinery services scope for that interface. A circuit name does not by itself establish additional machinery work.

Assemble the circuit items within the repair enquiry

Reference pipe and valve items alongside the other ship repair and maintenance work. The ship repair RFQ preparation guide covers vessel particulars, the intended yard period and attachment organization.

Identify confirmed items, options and work awaiting inspection separately. Keeping unknowns visible preserves the basis on which the initial enquiry was prepared.

Share the circuit and item schedule

Provide the available circuit drawings, pipe/valve list, condition photographs and access information through Gisan Shipyard’s contact page. State any testing or documentation requests and the preferred yard period separately.
